FAQs

Do I need a car?

Public transport is limited on the island, and a car allows you to explore at your own pace.

Some of Skye’s most stunning locations, like the Fairy Pools, Neist Point, and Quiraing, are tricky to reach without a car. Some roads are single-track with passing places, which can be tricky if you’re not used to rural driving.

That being said, there will be at least 2 vehicles available. You can also take a bus or train to Kyle of Lochalsh and rent a car from there.

What should I wear?

Warm Layers, waterproof coat, and boots. It will likely be cold and windy.

  7. If you have the flexibility for it, we love the city of Edinburgh and it would be a great place to extend your vacation. You can take a train there from Inverness. Another option is Glencoe - one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been (3 hours by bus or car from Skye).
